_____________________________ The Mini Dam Tour hile mid-January in most of the country this past winter meant that you were knee-deep in snow and cold weather, Northern California was blessed with the kind of temperatures and clear skies that Mini owners like. Sunny and 62 Degrees, with snow on the neigh- boring mountain peaks meant that Shasta Minis first official club gathering was off to a rousing start. Thel gathering (we don’t call them meetings) started at a local Marie Calendar’s restaurant for breakfast and socializing. Then about noon, the 33 Mini enthusiasts jumped into some 23 Minis (both new and classic) and embarked on a tour of Northern California dams, including Shasta Dam, Keswick Dam and Whiskeytown Dam, all via the twisty back mountain roads for which this area of the country is well known. Club members from as far off as Novato in the Bay Area and Yuba City showed up for the tour, and an Oregon Mini enthusiast who just picked up a new Clubman in Los Angeles, decided to drop by, as well. Putting together any sort of car event always takes a bit of organizing, which can be something clubs & events Thanks To Our Advertisers of a stretch for a newly-formed club, but the plan- ners at Shasta Minis planned the day so well that there were no lost drivers or “incidents.” In fact, the event received rave reviews by club members: “We also saw some great friends, made some new friends and had a lot of fun,” said Corey White. “Thank You Shasta Minis, for reminding us of how great it is to own a Mini.Whoo-Hoooo!” Pat Kaye commented, “…a wonderful gathering of some really nice people. The Shasta Minis are now rolling full force! The weather was unbeliev- able, I actually had both windows down and the sunroof open all the way at one point. That is a first for me in mid-January. It was really fun to see all the snow covered mountains at the same time...” With a successful charitable Holiday event under their belts, plus a great first official gather- ing and Mini run, Shasta Minis has given the Mini Community that they are a club that is out for miles and miles of motoring fun.
