MINI Dealer Network Reaches 100 The MINI dealer network has been steadily ex- panding since 2002 and this past December 16th reached the 100 dealer milestone in San Diego when MINI of San Diego opened its doors with a party that included local MINI clubs, Jim McDowell of MINI USA, and franchisee Roger Penske. With the opening of the San Diego store, the Penske Automotive Group brings their total of MINI dealerships in the US up to six. San Diego is one of the top 10 car markets in the US, and MINI of San Diego is the second MINI dealership in this Southern California metropolitan area. Located in the heart of San Diego, the new facility is visible from the 163 Freeway and signifi- cantly increases MINI’s visibility in the area. New Track For Seattle Area Developers of The Ridge Motorsports Park in Shelton, WA met with racing and motorsports enthusiasts from around the Pacific Northwest early in January to announce plans for new a world-class motorsports park in Mason County, Washington for car and motorcycle enthusiasts. Plans for The Ridge Motorsports Park will include a 2.5-mile road course with great elevation changes and vast run-off areas designed by world-famous automobile racer Johannes van Overbeek to challenge cars and motorcycles, as well as a four-lane quarter-mile drag strip. The grounds will also include areas for pits, staging, family picnics, and on-site vehicle storage, mechanical and support services. After meeting with the group, the developers led the group on a tour of the site to give a visual perspective. Asphalt and curbing should be installed as soon as August, with the scheduling of the first events with Pacific Northwest clubs in 2012. More information is at www.raceinmason.com.
