clubs & events __________________________________________ drive, Dustin gave the roads high marks. “These roads are great to drive because they have less traffic and, most importantly, are more forgiving.” He went on to say, “The Dragon is more intimidating because of the hairpins, oncoming traffic and crowds. You can drive here if your first sports car is a newly purchased MINI, or if you are a seasoned driver who enjoys great speed and curves.” Dustin also complimented the people who hosted the MINI event. “The people make the event. This has been a great time that allows everyone to enjoy themselves on the wide variety of drives and all the post-ride activities. Everyone gets to know each other at the Friday night wel- come event. Add to that, the Saturday night lasagna dinner, (in honor of this year’s theme: The Italian Job) music, dancing, the raffle and silent auction... you just can’t beat it.” At MMOTM, here is no shortage of evening entertainment. Coordinator, Greg Taylor acted as emcee of the Saturday night dinner and activities. The MINI-loving crowd was satiated with current MINI commercials and both MINI Cooper Owners! Doug and Sue Rataczak of Joplin, Missouri said, “This was our third year of attending MMOTM. Each year they just seem to be able to outdo the previous year. This year was no different. Already looking forward to 2011 to see how they can top this year.” As for the “Very Good Cause”, the event raised almost $3,000 for Camp Aldersgate from the raffle and silent auction. This was enough to send six, sponsored special-needs kids to camp for a week. A special thank you goes out to all who attended and supported this great charity. If you own a MINI and live anywhere in Middle America, this is THE drive event. Next year, MMOTM changes its name and moves to a new venue. We have outgrown the Lodge at Mt. Magazine so, “MINIs In The Ozarks,” will now reside in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. This move will help the event accommodate more people, put us right in the middle of the fabulous roads, and offer more post-drive activities. This resort town in the Ozarks has so many things to see and do. A variety of restaurants, bars, attrac- tions, and shops will allow everyone who attends to map out their own little adventure. Already, over 100 MINI owners have signed up to be contacted when registration opens for next year’s event. Get all the in- formation for “MINIs In The Ozarks” at http://www.ozarkMINI.com.
